World's oldest man dies in the Japan (116 years)

japanTOKYO (AP) - The oldest living person in the world and the oldest person ever to be recognized by Guinness World Records was Jiroemon Kimura of Japan, on Wednesday of natural causes died. He was 116.

Kyotango, Kimura of Japan, April 19, 1897 was born. Kyotango officials said they had been receiving treatment for pneumonia, has died at a local hospital.



Kimura, according to Guinness 116 years old, the first man in history to reside.

Kimura, whose life spanned from 1882-1998 Christian Mortensen, the United States, a Danish immigrant, determined by record-breaking, 115 years, 253 days old, December 28, 2012 the oldest person ever become.

Now the title of oldest living person in Osaka and Japan, 115-year-old Misao Okawa, is held by.

"Jiroemon Kimura was an extraordinary man," Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records. "Never to have lived for 116 years as a man - and whose age has been verified as the oldest man - a really special place in the history of the world."

Kyotango officials Kimura's funeral will be held Friday.

"Mr. Kimura and always in our country and our world, there will be a treasure for our city," said Mayor Yasushi Nakayama.
